This may seem simple to some but I get asked how to turn off my Kindle 3 from time to time. Here is how you turn your ereader off.
Simply turn off your kindle 3 by pressing and holding the power slide for at least 7 seconds. That’s all it takes to shut down all power to your Kindle.

I would like to shorten the 7 seconds to something shorter, to shut my Kindle off. Is this something that can be done?

My thanks for this too, My wife has just got herself a Kindle and that was one of the things I was expected to know off the top of my head without handling her new toy. In the start-up guide they tell you how to turn it on, so why underneath could they not say how to turn the thing off. Bad Amazon
I tried turning my kindle 3 off, but the screensaver is still on the screen. How do I turn my kindle completely OFF.

You must press the turn off button during around 7-10seconds and it’ll turn off completely, with the screen blank.
Thank you! This was frustrating me, I tried holding the power button down but I guess never got to 7 seconds, but that did the trick! It is annoying that the shut off directions are not in the provided manual. Glad I figured it out before my next flight!
how do you turn off the audible on the kindle? everytime I turn it on this voice comes on telling me the page I on and the title. its getting on my nerves, please help!
